Paying my dues... finally rewarded (by Jordan)

I visited a new stream today and I was really impressed. It flows through a beautiful, deep limestone canyon and there are dozens of waterfalls cascading down the sides into the main current. I started today with the mindset that I wanted to out walk every other fisherman and attempt to find some unpressured fish. I walked about a mile and a half before I even started fishing, but much to my dismay two guys appeared around the bend, having fished all of the holes in front of me. I couldn't believe the number of people fishing this creek on a weekday, no less. Apparently you just can't escape the people in Western NY. I finally settled on a deep dark hole that was the most fishy look place I had seen. After a half a dozen drifts , I hooked into this beautiful chrome steelhead. After a short 5 minute battle, I was able to tail the fish. Unfortunately, I realized that I had left the camera battery at the house so I had to take this crappy pic with my cell phone. This was the only fish of the day for me!

Baby Love

At my last doctors appt our little girl was measuring 3-4 weeks bigger that normal. So.... either we are having a big baby (which is a possibility because we were big and we are both tall) or she will be coming early (yikes!). Either way we have been enjoying the journey of pregnancy and having our laughs along the way. Jordan has been more than amused with my morphing stomach. You can see my stomach jump when she kicks (she is quite the kicker). We have also been faced with the reality that we are going to be parents responsible for raising this little life into a responsible, God fearing adult. Jordan is terrified with the thought of having a teenage daughter. He asked me if we could just keep her in my stomach to keep her safe. We are both first born in our families and are also realizing that our parents hadn't a clue how to raise a kid either when we came around, but...we both turned out okay I guess ;). The only thing I think we know how to do is pray and do our best to raise our baby girl in the word. The picture is from me at 5 1/2 months; I am about 7 months right now!

Oh baby

Yesterday was the big appointment. We found out we are having a little girl! Quite the surprise for Jordan and I! However, she was already being stubborn and would not turn her head off of my bladder so we could finish measuring her, so we are going back in 2 weeks (hopefully I will have a good picture to give you). I have been run down lately. I have an upper respiratory infection and have just been tired. I am being refered to a cardiologist for fainting 3 times so far since I have been pregnant. I am praying everything is okay. I have been less nauseous which is a blessing!!
Jordan is also really excited about baby! He has been so amazing with school and taking care of his sick pregnant wife. He studies alot and is doing his best in school. He has also been working on our house when he gets a spare minute. We have finished taking off the wallpaper and we are now painting the rest of the house, so my participation has officially ended...lol. We have had so many volunteers to help us paint and many more helped us with the wallpaper. Thank-you friends and family!!
We love and miss everyone at home and can not wait to see you soon!

Brrrrr

It was a rather chilly morning at 2 degrees with a with a wind chill of -11. Normally, when it is this cold most people stay inside. Despite the cold weather, I have a husband that insists on fishing. And not fishing from the shore or on a boat, but in in the river. I mean, c'mon really? I have learned that when it comes to fishing, it is best to set our common sense aside. The latest edition to his tackle box is my cooking spray. Apparently the spray keeps his gear from freezing. He usually does pretty well and catches some big fish. I love my crazy husband!

And the suprises keep on coming...bring it on 2010

Last year was absolutely crazy for us! Seriously... sometimes I wonder if we will ever have a "normal" life! Oh well, maybe we are supposed to be wandering nomadic students. Jordan did very well in his first semester of dental school and has been working so hard on our house. It is looking really good! We also had some help from my mom, sister and Jordan's parents. They came out from California to help us get the house ready for move in! Some dental school and church friends also came to help us with the daunting task of wallpaper removal. Most of you know, we are expecting new addition to our family in June... which was our most recent surprise. I have not been feeling all that wonderful, but Jordan has been an amazing help:). Our church family has also been such an amazing blessing to have during this time. I start a new job on Monday at a local hospital...I hope it goes well!! We have been thanking the Lord for all that we have been blessed with and continue to pray for guidance in this crazy life of ours! Happy New Year, may God continue to bless your family!

Life

We have been living in New York for several months now and have begun to grasp everything that has gone on over the past several months. I have been working for about 1 and a 1/2 months at Family Care Physicians and Jordan has been in school for 2 and a 1/2 months. It is easy to lose sight of why we are here and what we are to be doing. During church this morning the pastor mentioned how it is so easy to cry out to the Lord in a time of need and forget to do so when life is "alright"( we visited a new church today that we loved). Jordan and I have been praying for peace in this new adventure in our lives. We are still trying to find our place here among friends, work, church and school and have also become more involved in some local events as well. I did the Breast Cancer walk (in the pouring rain), Jordan went to his first Saber's hockey game, we tailgaited for the Buffalo Bill's game and have had some fun dinner's with friends. Jordan and I bought our first house a couple of weeks ago and are hoping to "close" November 20th. We have been so blessed with everything and everyone we have been provided!

Settling In... well, trying anyways

The past several weeks have just seemed to have flown by for us. Jordan has been studying day and night when not in school and I have started my new job. I am working at a Family Practice (which is definitely different from where I was before). Everyone is very nice and willing to teach! It will be good to get some adult experience to diversify my scope of practice. We are still trusting the Lord with our every move and praying that we eventually get some sort of routine going in our lives. We have met some amazing people and have been able to have some fun with them! Thank-you Jesus! However, we are still trying different churches in attempt to find a "good fit" for us (we have visited some very interesting churches and we have some very interesting stories to accompany them). We are also looking for a house! Various incentives, such as the tax credit and in-state tuition, have lead us house hunting. As with any big purchase, we are considering each and every "pro and con" and praying allot! We will keep you updated with what happens with this decision. The pictures posted are some of us out with our amazing friends and some of free T.V. we found! Quite the find for my football watching husband...he was so proud! However, we are still using a rug, sleeping bag and pillows as a couch. It is amazing what you can live without!!
