Lower Niagara Guided Fishing (by Jordan)

So I was fortunate enough to be invited on a guided trip on the Lower Niagara River this morning. We fished an area known as Devil's Hole National Park and let me tell you, this section of the river lives up to its name. The currents in this area are intense and a few years ago a huge vortex sucked a boat underwater, killing the guide and his clients. This type of fishing involves making long drifts using a powerful electric trolling motor to control the boat in the current. We were using egg sacks, live minnows, and kwik fish fished vertically near the bottom. Unfortunately, the water was slightly stained compared to yesterday, shutting off the bite. It was a case of "you should've been here yesterday". However, I was lucky enough to land two steelhead 6 & 8 pounds, the only fish caught on our boat for the day. I really enjoyed fishing the big river and I will definitely be back to try again in the future.
